01. How do I prepare my house for our session?
Don’t worry. Real life is beautiful, and our goal is to help you tell your real life story. That said, we’ll go over your space during our pre-session visit, identifying the best places to shoot. Having found our locations, we’ll identify key fixes — as easy as clearing clutter from a nightstand — that make any space look great. Trust me. There’s no need to worry or stage your entire house. Together, we’ll make your session both beautiful and authentic — and above all, stress-free.
02. What should I do to prepare baby for our session?
When baby is fed, clean, and at a happy temperature, we’ll have a great session. It may be helpful to feed, do a diaper change, and dress your baby in the outfit you prefer just before I arrive. But, we’ll have the time to be flexible and take cues from your newborn. We can capture wonderful nursing or diaper change images, if you wish. In my experience, whatever baby needs during our time together will add meaning to your unique session.
03. What should I have my baby wear?
Typically, families enjoy capturing baby in three stages: clothed, swaddled, and diaper-only. My goal is to provide amazing photos of your newborn, including special closeups of fingers, feet, and umbilical cord. Taking cues from you and your baby, we’ll work in a way that’s thoughtful of baby’s comfort. If baby is happily naked when I arrive, we can work towards getting dressed. If baby is happily dressed, we’ll get naked! If you have your heart set on a certain color for baby’s outfit, it’s wise to have a backup on-hand. But really, there’s no need to worry — a plain white onesie is perfect. And, if baby is ok with it, we can always do a costume change!
